On Friday, 3^rd October 2025, the Technical University of Kenya, through its DigitAfrica team, conducted a digital transformation workshop themed “Hybridization of University Courses as a Component of Digital Transformation.” The objectives of the workshop were to introduce the concept of digital transformation to heads of departments help participants understand the frameworks for University digital transformation, enhance digital skills, and plan the next steps.

In his opening remarks, TU-K DigitAfrica Principal Investigator, Prof. Salesio Kiura, emphasised that the main focus of the workshop was to develop a digital transformation work plan for the University and to upskill participants with essential digital soft skills.

National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI) has embarked on TU-K’s Institutional Scientific and Ethics Review Committee (ISERC) accreditation assessment. The assessment session which marked part of the accreditation process, was held on Thursday 2^nd October 2025. The meeting brought together the University Management, members of the ISERC and the NACOSTI assessment team.

The Technical University of Kenya is currently hosting, two international students from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. The graduate students, Ms. Valentina Tomasso and Mr. Eduardo Curio, undertaking a Masters programme in Energy Engineering, for Sustainable Development, are part of a student exchange initiative, curtesy of a memorandum of Understanding between the two universities – TU-K and Politecnico di Milano. They are under the supervision of Prof. Alex Mumbo, from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

TU-K students emerged runner-up in this year’s Kenya Universities Debate Championship (KUDC) hosted at KCA University. Nine students represented TU-K at the 4-day event held between 18th and 21st September 2025. The championship brought together top debaters and speakers from 22 universities from across the country with over 300 participants. The competition was organised by KUDC and is pitched at boosting student’s soft skills through debating and public speaking.

Dr. Joan Nyika, a TU-K lecturer in the Department of Physics, Earth and Environmental Sciences, is among the local and international experts that have produced a policy brief titled “Scaling Agroforestry as a Climate Resilience and Food Security Solution in Drylands of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.”
